The Fiat e-Scudo is an extremely versatile electric campervan platform. With off-grid gas heating for year-round adventures, up to 4-berth sleeping with a pop-top roof, and a wide and room interior, it’s a capable campervan that happens to be electric. We’ve been converting these vans for many years, so we know the platform inside out, and our e-Scudo conversions have featured on Channel 5’s Million Pound Motorhomes and in The Telegraph. We have a partnership with a main Fiat dealer, and can help you source a competitively priced new or used base vehicle.

Why the Fiat e-Scudo

Year-round off-grid capability

We can install a Propex gas heater in the e-Scudo, giving you reliable warmth from a small gas bottle, with no draining your leisure battery and no relying on a campsite hook-up.

4-berth for families

The e-Scudo’s generous interior width (1,628 mm) means a comfortable double bed for two adults downstairs, plus two more in the pop-top roof. Up to five belted travelling seats during the day, four sleeping berths at night, all inside the van with no awning required.

Proven platform, strong used market

The e-Scudo shares its platform with four other vans (more on that below). Thousands operate across Europe as commercial vehicles, which means proven reliability and a healthy second-hand market. Well-maintained ex-lease vans regularly come up at attractive prices.

Real-world electric range

The 75 kWh battery delivers 180 to 230 miles in real-world driving, enough for most weekend trips without charging. Rapid charging takes around 45 minutes to 80% at a 100 kW charger.

What this means for you:

if you find an excellent Citroen e-Dispatch or Peugeot e-Expert, we can convert it exactly the same way. It widens your sourcing options a lot, so when you search for a base vehicle, use all the names; you might find the perfect van wearing a different badge. We focus on the Fiat e-Scudo name because of our dealer partnership, but we welcome any of the Stellantis siblings into the workshop.

Sourcing your e-Scudo

New or used, we can help you find the right vehicle. Our partnership with a main Fiat dealer means we can source a competitively priced base vehicle that fits your spec, and we know what makes a good one: battery health, service history and specification. Or source your own, including any Stellantis sibling, and bring it to us. We don’t charge a separate fee for sourcing.

What to look for: the 75 kWh battery (not the 50 kWh, which limits touring range), full service history, and battery health above 90%. The sweet spot for used e-Scudos is 2022 to 2023 models with 20,000 to 40,000 miles, ex-lease, with full history.

How our pricing works

Each design has one base conversion price that buys a complete, ready-to-camp campervan, with the pop-top included. You then choose your cooking and power package (gas as standard, or fully electric for £2,160 more), add only the options you want, and buy the base vehicle separately. So your total is conversion + package + any add-ons + vehicle. Two invoices, one campervan.

A good-quality e-Scudo 75 kWh base vehicle typically costs from £18,000 to £28,800 inc VAT, depending on age, mileage and specification. As a guide, a complete e-Scudo campervan (vehicle plus conversion) starts from around £42,000 all in.

Within both designs you choose between two equipment packages for cooking and electrics.

Gas Package

(Included)

Simple and cost-effective. The gas hob provides reliable cooking without relying on your electrical system, while the gas-safe installation is designed for use with Campingaz bottles. A traditional campervan cooking setup that’s proven, practical and familiar.

Electric Package

(+ £2,160 inc VAT)

Everything in the Gas Package, but with an induction hob instead of the gas hob and a lithium battery instead of the standard leisure battery. The package also includes a 2000W pure sine wave inverter and a solar panel system.

This gives you a fully electric cooking setup with no gas on board. The lithium battery and inverter power the induction hob, while the solar panel system helps keep the battery topped up when you’re off-grid.

Gas airblow heating

For year-round off-grid camping we recommend adding Propex gas airblow heating. It runs from a small gas bottle and provides reliable warmth without draining your leisure battery. The e-Scudo’s commercial-van chassis allows safe gas installation, which is one of its real advantages as a year-round electric platform. If you plan to camp off-grid in the cold, gas heating transforms what’s possible.

We convert your van at our Newhaven workshop. We’ll give you realistic timelines from the start, but the conversion typically takes 3-4 weeks in the workshop.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a full e-Scudo conversion cost?

The conversion starts from £20,399 inc VAT (E-Mandalay SWB or E-Chamonix), or £20,999 for the E-Mandalay LWB. These are conversion-only prices, with the pop-top available as an optional extra for £3,200. The base vehicle is also separate, although we can source one for you. A good-quality base vehicle typically costs £21,600 to £28,800 inc VAT, so a complete converted campervan starts from around £42,000 all in.

Can you convert a Citroen e-Dispatch, Peugeot e-Expert, Toyota Proace or Vauxhall Vivaro Electric?

Yes. The conversion is identical, because these are the same van with different badges.

What's the difference between E-Mandalay and E-Chamonix?

The E-Mandalay has a rock and roll bed with up to five belted seats, three in the front and two in the rear. The E-Chamonix has a double slat bed with three belted seats in the front only.

Should I choose the gas or electric package?

Gas package: included in the base price, simpler, and cooking is independent of the battery. Electric package: £2,160 more, fully electric cooking, with a lithium battery, inverter and solar. Both can have Propex gas airblow heating added separately.

Can you install off-grid gas heating in an electric van?

Yes, The commercial-van chassis allows safe gas installation, so we can fit a Propex heater for reliable off-grid warmth year-round.

How long does a conversion take?

Typically 4 weeks in the workshop with some lead time to make your interior design choices, depending on specification and the current order book. We’ll give you realistic timelines when you join the build queue.
