The VW e-Transporter puts a fully electric drivetrain into the Transporter layout campers have trusted for decades. If you’re coming from a VW T5 or T6, it’s the natural electric upgrade. We convert it in our two designs, the Mandalay and the Chamonix.

4-berth for families
The interior width of means comfortable sleeping for two adults downstairs. Add the pop-top and you have a 4-berth.
Lowest running costs, zero tailpipe
Electric is cheaper per mile and produces no tailpipe emissions. If you have home charging, overnight top-ups transform the ownership experience and ULEZ and Clean Air Zones stop being a worry.
Range and charging
The 64kWh battery delivers around 150 to 180 miles in real-world driving. That’s the shortest range of our three electric vans, but it has the fastest charging: about 40 minutes from 10 to 80 percent at a 125kW rapid charger, and 8 to 10 hours overnight on a 7kW home wallbox. For many customers, 150 to 170 miles between quick top-ups is plenty.
If range is your priority, look at the Transporter E-Hybrid, or our Fiat e-Scudo (170 to230 miles), VW ID. Buzz (180 to 230 miles) or Kia PV5 (180 to 250).
Looking for an electric VW California?
VW doesn’t currently offer an electric California, and none has been announced. The e-Transporter or the ID Buzz with our conversion is the closest thing available:fully electric, with a proper pop-top, a rock and roll bed and a side kitchen. Essentially what an electric California would be, built by specialists rather than the factory.
The same van as the Ford E-Transit Custom
The VW e-Transporter and the Ford E-Transit Custom are the same vehicle underneath, built on one platform through a Ford and VW partnership. Same battery, same motor, same charging, same interior dimensions. Our conversion fits both identically. VW badges often hold a little more resale value; the choice is yours, and you can shop both to find the right deal.

The conversion is the same whichever drivetrain you choose. Pick the layout, then the drivetrain. The price shown is for a complete, ready-to-camp conversion; the base vehicle is added on top.

The e-Transporter’s strength is maximum interior space and off-grid heating for year-round camping. Its limit is range. Need more? The e-Scudo or ID. Buzz go further between charges.

Frequently asked questions
Is the e-Transporter the same as the Ford E-Transit Custom?
Can you fit gas heating in an electric van?
Yes. We install a Propex gas heater (or a diesel air heater) that runs off-grid without draining your leisure battery. This is one of the e-Transporter’s advantages over the ID. Buzz, whose chassis doesn’t permit gas installation.
Why is the range shorter than the e-Scudo or ID. Buzz?
The e-Transporter has a 64kWh battery, against 75kWh in the e-Scudo and 79kWh in the ID. Buzz, and there’s no larger battery option for this platform yet. For many customers 150 to 170 miles is plenty; if not, our other electric vans go further.
Does it qualify for the Plug-in Van Grant?
As a fully electric van it may qualify for the £5,000 grant. Eligibility changes, so we’ll confirm the current position when you enquire.
Where do I get it serviced?
At any VW or Ford dealer, depending on the badge. Ford dealers have worked with this platform longest, as it’s their design, but VW dealers are fully equipped for the e-Transporter.
