The Surf Buzz
The Surf Buzz is our simpler build.
The Surf Buzz is a simpler, more affordable take on the ID. Buzz. It is a lined van with a full-width rock and roll bed with two or three belted seats, and enough power for the essentials, rather than a full kitchen build. It keeps the cost down and the weight low, and it is the easiest way into a Sunbox Buzz. Add the Horizon pop-top to make it a 4-berth, and a solar panel if you want to stay off-grid for longer.
What's included:
- Full-width rock and roll bed (2 or 3 belted seats, 2-berth, M1 tested)
- Thermafleece natural sheep's wool insulation and full lining
- A simpler electrical system: USB and USB-C, LED lighting, and a coolbox port
- Charging from either V2L or a lithium leisure battery, with battery-to-battery charging as you drive
- Campsite hook-up connection for mains power when you want it
Minimal functionality by design: enough for a weekend off-grid, without the full kitchen and lithium system of the Chamonix and Mandalay.

This is our simpler build, complete and ready to camp: a fully lined van with a full-width rock and roll bed (two or three belted seats), insulation, and a 12V electrical system for the essentials. There is no fitted kitchen, by design, which keeps the cost and the weight down.

The base conversion above is already complete. Add any of these to suit how you’ll travel.

Your total = conversion + any add-ons + vehicle. As a guide, a Surf Buzz with the Horizon pop-top on a used Buzz comes to around £45,590 all in.
