Fiat e-Scudo Campervan Conversions
The Fiat e-Scudo campervan conversion is our most versatile electric campervan. With off-grid gas heating for year-round adventures, up to 4-berth sleeping with a pop-top roof, and the widest interior of any electric van we convert, it’s a properly capable campervan that happens to be electric.
At Sunbox Campers, we’ve been carrying out Fiat E-Scudo conversions since these vans arrived in the UK. We know the platform inside out — the electrical systems, the heating solutions, the layouts that work and those that don’t. Our e-Scudo conversions have featured on Channel 5’s Million Pound Motorhomes and in The Telegraph.
We also have a partnership with a main Fiat dealer, which means we can help you source a competitively priced new or used base vehicle that fits your ideal specification.

Why the Fiat e-Scudo?
Year-Round Off-Grid Capability
We can install a Propex gas heater in the e-Scudo, giving you reliable warmth from a small gas bottle — no draining your leisure battery, no relying on campsites with hook-up. If you want to wild camp in Scotland in February, the e-Scudo makes it possible.
Genuine 4-Berth for Families
The e-Scudo’s generous interior width (1,628mm) means a comfortable double bed for two adults downstairs, plus two more in the pop-top roof. Up to five belted travelling seats during the day, four sleeping berths at night — all inside the van, no awning required.
Proven Platform, Strong Used Market
The e-Scudo shares its platform with four other vans (more on that below). Thousands operate across Europe as commercial vehicles, which means proven reliability and a healthy second-hand market. Well-maintained ex-lease vans regularly become available at attractive prices.
Real-World Electric Range
The 75kWh battery delivers 170-180 miles in real-world driving — enough for most weekend trips without charging. Rapid charging takes around 45 minutes to 80% at a 100kW charger.

The Stellantis Advantage: Five Badges, One Van
The Fiat e-Scudo is mechanically identical to four other vans:
- Citroën ë-Dispatch
- Peugeot e-Expert
- Vauxhall Vivaro Electric
- Toyota Proace Electric
Same chassis, same battery, same motors. The differences are cosmetic — grilles, badges, minor trim variations.
What this means for you: If you find an excellent Citroën ë-Dispatch or Peugeot e-Expert, we can convert it exactly the same way. This dramatically expands your sourcing options. When searching for a base vehicle, use all the names — you might find the perfect van wearing a different badge.
We focus on the Fiat e-Scudo name because of our dealership partnership, but we welcome any of the Stellantis siblings into our workshop.
Two Designs for the e-Scudo
We offer two proven designs for the Fiat e-Scudo, each with a different bed and seating configuration. Both include the same quality of craftsmanship, materials, and finish.
E-Mandalay

Rock ‘n’ roll bed with up to 5 belted seats
From £20,399 inc VAT (SWB) | From £20,999 inc VAT (LWB)
The E-Mandalay is our most popular e-Scudo conversion. It features a rock ‘n’ roll bed that converts from rear-facing seats during the day to a double bed at night — with two three-point seatbelts, giving you up to five belted travelling seats in total (three in the front, two in the rear).
Add a pop-top roof and you have genuine 4-berth capability: two adults downstairs, two more (typically children or smaller adults) in the roof.
E-Mandalay includes:
- Elevating pop-top roof with choice of canvas colour (5-year warranty)
- 2-berth rock ‘n’ roll bed with two three-point seatbelts (up to 5 belted seats total)
- Hand-built wooden furniture in your choice of finish
- Solid wood worktops and removable table
- Natural fibre insulation and carpet lining
- Luxury upholstery in your choice of fabric
- Blackout curtains in your choice of colour
- Vinyl flooring in your choice of style
- Leisure battery and battery-to-battery charging system
- USB/USB-C and 240V sockets
- LED lighting throughout
- Water tank and stainless steel sink
- Fridge (location dependent on layout)
- Hob (gas or induction — see packages below)
Optional extras: Propex gas heating, solar panels, extra windows, portaloo, pop-top roof bed (2-berth)
E-Chamonix
Double slat bed, no rear seats
From £20,399 inc VAT
The E-Chamonix features a double slat bed and elevating pop-top roof, with three belted seats in the front. Without a rock ‘n’ roll bed in the rear, the layout offers a different interior configuration.
E-Chamonix includes:
- Elevating pop-top roof with choice of canvas colour (5-year warranty)
- Double slat bed (2-berth)
- 3 belted seats (front only)
- Hand-built wooden furniture in your choice of finish
- Solid wood worktops and removable table
- Natural fibre insulation and carpet lining
- Luxury upholstery in your choice of fabric
- Blackout curtains in your choice of colour
- Vinyl flooring in your choice of style
- Leisure battery and battery-to-battery charging system
- USB/USB-C and 240V sockets
- LED lighting throughout
- Water tank and stainless steel sink
- Fridge (location dependent on layout)
- Hob (gas or induction — see packages below)
Optional extras: Propex gas heating, solar panels, extra windows, portaloo, pop-top roof bed (2-berth)
Gas or Electric Package
Within both designs, you choose between two equipment packages for cooking and electrical systems.
Gas Package (Included)
- Gas hob
- Standard leisure battery
- Battery-to-battery charging system
The gas package keeps things simple and cost-effective. Your cooking is independent of your electrical system, so you can cook regardless of battery state. This is the traditional campervan approach — proven, reliable, and familiar.
Electric Package (+£2,160 inc VAT)
Everything in the gas package, except:
- Induction hob (instead of gas hob)
- Lithium battery (instead of standard leisure battery)
Plus:
- 2000W pure sine wave inverter
- Solar panel system
The electric package lets you cook without any gas on board — fully electric camping. The lithium battery and inverter provide the power needed to run an induction hob, while solar panels help keep everything topped up off-grid.
Which to choose? The gas package costs less and offers simpler, more reliable cooking. The electric package appeals to those who want to avoid gas entirely. Both packages can have Propex gas heating added as an optional extra — this is separate from your cooking choice.

Propex Gas Heating
For year-round off-grid camping, we recommend adding Propex gas heating to your e-Scudo conversion.
The Propex heater runs from a small gas bottle (separate from cooking gas if you’ve chosen a gas hob, or standalone if you’ve chosen the electric package). It provides reliable warmth without draining your leisure battery — essential for winter camping or Scottish adventures.
The e-Scudo’s commercial van chassis allows safe gas installation, which is one of its key advantages as a year-round campervan platform.
If you plan to camp off-grid in cold weather, gas heating transforms what’s possible.

The Sunbox Campers Quality
At Sunbox Campers, we build beautiful campervans by hand — more atelier than factory. Every e-Scudo conversion is crafted by skilled joiners at our East Sussex workshop using sustainable materials.
Handcrafted Interiors
Our vans feature hand-built wooden furniture throughout. No flat-pack, no shortcuts. Skilled carpenters create solid wood worktops, cabinets, and tables that are built to last and lovely to live with.
Sustainable Materials
We use FSC-certified wood, Thermafleece natural insulation (sheep’s wool for superior thermal and acoustic performance), and quality fabrics including Chieftain Earthly (100% recycled) for customers who want them. Sustainability matters to us — we believe you can build beautiful campervans without compromising on environmental responsibility.
Adding Your Personal Touch to your Fiat E-Scudo Conversion
We know how important it is to have a customisable design so you can give your campervan interior a ‘personal touch’.
You will be able to choose the colour scheme, fabrics, wood finish and other interior design elements. When you sign up to our build queue, we will send over details on the entire range of choices so you can make an informed decision. For a sneak peek at the range, visit our interior choices page.
From curtains to carpet choices, you can come up with a look that you’re happy with.
- Flooring: Style and colour from our Polyflor range
- Upholstery: Fabric from our curated selection
- Wood finish: Multiple stain and treatment options
- Interior lining: Carpet or wood in various colours

Vehicle Sourcing
We can help source your e-Scudo. Our partnership with a main Fiat dealer means we can help you find a competitively priced new or used base vehicle that fits your ideal specification. We know what makes a good base vehicle — battery health, service history, specification — and can guide you through the process.
Or source your own. Many customers find their own e-Scudo (or Stellantis sibling) and bring it to us for conversion. We’re happy to advise on what to look for, even if you’re buying elsewhere.
Base vehicle pricing guide:
A good quality e-Scudo 75kWh base vehicle typically costs between £21,600 and £28,800 inc VAT, depending on age, mileage, and specification.
What to look for:
- 75kWh battery (not 50kWh — the smaller battery limits touring range)
- Full service history
- Battery health above 90%
- Ex-lease returns often offer excellent value with comprehensive maintenance records
The sweet spot for used e-Scudos: 2022-2023 models with 20,000-40,000 miles, ex-lease, full service history.
Warranty and Aftercare
Conversion warranty:
- 24-month warranty on our conversion (workmanship and installed components)
Vehicle warranties (when sourced through Fiat main dealer):
- At least 12 months’ warranty on the vehicle
- 8-year / 100,000-mile battery warranty from the date of first vehicle registration — Stellantis guarantees the battery retains at least 70% capacity. This warranty transfers with the vehicle.
What you can expect from us:
- Comprehensive handover with full walkthrough of all systems
- Ongoing support — we’re here to help long after your van leaves our workshop
We’d rather build a relationship than make a sale. Many of our customers stay in touch, share their adventures, and come back when they’re ready for their next van.
The Conversion Process
1. Consultation
We discuss your needs, budget, and how you’ll use the camper. This helps us recommend the right design, package, and options for your situation.
2. Base Vehicle
Either we help source your e-Scudo through our dealer partnership, or you bring us a van you’ve found yourself.
3. Design Choices
You select your flooring, upholstery, wood finish, lining, and curtains from our range of options. This is where your campervan starts to feel like yours.
4. Build
Our skilled craftspeople convert your van at our Newhaven workshop. Build time depends on specification and current order book — we’ll give you realistic timelines from the start.
5. Handover
Comprehensive walkthrough of all systems, handover documentation, and the keys to your new campervan.
Frequently Asked Questions about Fiat e-Scudo Campervan Conversions
How much does a full e-Scudo conversion cost?
E-Mandalay starts from £20,399 inc VAT (SWB) or £20,999 inc VAT (LWB). E-Chamonix starts from £20,399 inc VAT. These are conversion-only prices — base vehicle is additional. A good quality base vehicle typically costs £21,600-£28,800 inc VAT. A complete converted campervan (vehicle + conversion) therefore starts from around £42,000 inc VAT.
Can you convert a Citroën ë-Dispatch / Peugeot e-Expert / Vauxhall Vivaro Electric?

What’s the difference between E-Mandalay and E-Chamonix?
E-Mandalay has a rock ‘n’ roll bed (converts from seats to bed) with up to 5 belted seats — three in the front, two in the rear. E-Chamonix has a double slat bed with 3 belted seats in the front only — no rear seats.
Should I choose the gas or electric package?
